Hi Woodsy
Further to all the recent posts about money boxes, here is another novelty example, in the shape of a Ford Tri-motor airliner. In America the collecting of Banks, the American term for a money box, is very popular, and many are made in the form of various vehicles. This one is mainly metal, with some plastic parts, wingspan 275 mm.
The cockpit cover lifts up to reveal the coin slot. There is a hatch in the lower fuselage for removing the coins, but I have never been able to get this open. Hemmings Motor News is an American car sales magazine. The undersides of the wings are well marked:
LIMITED EDITION, Ford Tri-motor
Liberty Classics, Libertyville IL, U.S.A., Made in China
Dist. by Spec Cast, Dyersville Ia
This beauty was given to me a number of years ago by a now deceased friend. [Thank you, Rick.]

Woodsy has pictures of my Keystone Loening also by Ertl. I bought mine because it reminded me of the aircraft Biggles flew in the 1930's.
