Hello Woodsy,
Further to the posts on repro boxes, this is an ATLAS Dinky a modern copy from the range of Dinky Toys that include a repro box which says in small print that it is an Atlas copy.
On the left is my Austin Covered lorry from the early 50's. It was Maroon but over painted by me when I needed transport for the Airfix 8th Army back about 1960. I considered buying a repro Radiator Cowl with headlights and a repro tin canopy to restore it but decided to buy the cheaper complete repro model to compliment my beaten up original.

Looks good- I personally buy things because I like the look of them, not just because they are old -so would certainly consider buying repro toys and boxes like these (I can't afford good examples of the old toys, anyway!). Having said that, I plan to renovate one or two of my battered old matchbox cars in due course.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of repro boxes, because they were often a very cool part of the toy and the experience of owning it, and of course, boxes didn't last.
ReplyDeleteThey can complete a collection for sure Zigg.
DeleteAnd the way I played with an obsessed on the boxes, they sure didn't last at my house!
ReplyDeleteToy boxes were just brilliant weren't they. Carded bubble packs were much harder to keep hold of and got squashed fairly early on. No packaging of mine survived past 1977 except for a single Kung Fu figure header card, which I still have!
