Hi.
Thought I'd share with you something I treated myself to recently. This is the Star Trek communicator by The Wand Company.
It is a superbly accurate prop replica, made from scans of a surviving hero prop. Not only does it look and feel totally convincing, it sounds it too.
It makes all the correct beeps and chirps and operates by opening and closing as it should. The display lights work and the central dial makes the correct moving patterns.
The device has an excellent charge/display stand that it sticks to magnetically. It charges from a USB charger. There is a lovely display case too.
The best bit though, is the realisation of a childhood dream. It can pair with your phone (via bluetooth) and then works as an actual communicator!
I don't think you could get a better prop replica. I'm delighted with it.
Take care,
Kevin D

It looks ace this communicator Kev. At first I thought you'd made it! making t connect to a mobile phone is a neat twist and must give it a feeling of real authenticity. Beam me me up Scotty!
ReplyDeleteDamn, that looks like Hi-end movie prop
ReplyDeleteIt really is nice. They do a phaser too but it is rather pricey!
ReplyDeleteThat would be the stunnig price kev! Ha ha.
DeleteStunnig? Stunning!
DeleteI picked up their version of Matt Smith's Sonic Screwdriver on ebay and was very pleasantly surprised as it's a mainly metal solid, weighty version of the original and the prongs at the end can be flicked open exactly as it functions on telly, unlike the plastic toy versions. Given that official reproductions of the prop cost up to £1000 I was well happy to get this for £65 - and the added fun of using it to change the channel of course, much to the annoyange of 'er indoors (which naturally means I just HAVE to do it all the more yukyukyuk!!)
Deletethat's hilarious Mike. A Sonic Remote. Love it. I hope you get chance to change over to Dr. Who one day, whilst wearing a long multi-coloured scarf! There was a sonic screwdriver mystery on the blog about 10 years ago. Forgotten what it was. I'll have to dig it out.
DeleteI'm phased by that!
ReplyDeleteDo you think the people who invented Tazers really wanted to call them Phasers Kev?
DeleteI bet they did! I've got the Tennant sonic screwdriver by the same company, it's ace too.
ReplyDeletehere's that mystery about the sonic screwdriver I mentioned and it involves our Kevin over 5 years ago! Was the Zero-X repair tool related to the sonic screwdriver? Seems to be yes! http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/thunderbirds-johnny-seven-and-drwho.html
