The badge video stocktake I made of my Project SWORD toys was a lot of fun and very informative. I now know which badges are missing and which I will need to acquire.
I thought I'd finally round things off with a few short blog posts about mysteries and , this being the first.

One of my badges is incomplete, the red Commander from my Apollo Saturn. Reader Tony K's is complete and he kindly sent me these picture's:
The two biggest mysteries of my stocktake and presumably any other SWORD collectors' were the omissions of any badge information on the boxes for the Scouts and Cape Kennedy Set. Similarly the Nuclear Ferry's badge situation needs a further look.

The three Scout boxes state that a badge is included but not which one. The specification sheet which was included in each Scout box doesn't shed any light on it either:
Consulting my own online Project SWORD checklist from 1998 does not help much this puzzle either, as it merely states that each Scout came with a badge:
Perhaps the most revealing evidence as to the rank of the Scout badges can be found in an observation, which reader Arto recently made to one of my badge videos, that the Japanese carded versions of the Scouts contain an ASTRONAUT badge.
That the Scouts held the rank of Astronaut does make sense for these and the boxed versions too. The Scouts were small toys and relatively cheap to buy no doubt compared to the larger vehicles.
I think its a safe bet that the correct badges for the three boxed Scouts were blue Astronauts.
