Saw a modern flick called Primal Force last night about angry baboons. It was dire but I appreciated the aping around.
It reminded me of a much older horror flick called Primal Rage, again about cross gorillas.
There was a range of carded action figures and boxed vehicles too I think but theses came out in the mid-90's so may not have anything to do with the film. the movie was a horror film and not really for kids!
I may have sold a few of these figures and weapons over the years. Hard to say. The plastic parts of many action figure ranges all looked the same in the 90's!

I suppose Jurassic Park and Congo boosted this whole sub-genre of toys as crazed apes and armoured dinosaurs suddenly appeared in many ranges like Primal Rage and

Do you collect anything like this?
These toys are based on a video game that resembles fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but uses dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasties as characters. They came in six inch size and twelve inch size figures.
ReplyDeleteA video game eh Bri? That makes sense as the toys could then be marketed to kids. I wonder if the game was linked to the 88 movie?
DeleteDon't know,Atari might have had to buy the name,or fight a court battle over it.Love those Dino Riders, rare, fragile, and expensive these days.
ReplyDeleteNever seen any Dino Riders in the flesh Brian. Saw loads of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs blister cards a few years back at a vintage toy store. I sold a bundle of Air Raiders carded figures sets this month, which I think were an off-shoot of Ring Raiders but not sure.
