My friend Terry H has kindly sent me a miniature Morinaga OX this week, probably the smallest Zero-X ever, so continuing the OX day, I thought I would pull together all the Zero-X models and toys that are currently stationed at Moonbase.
From top to bottom- central column: Imai 1967 original kit, Beat 2007 Imai 1967 re-issue, Aoshima 2007 die-cast toy missing, Century 21 Toys 1967 remote-control toy
Left column top to bottom: Imai kit 1988, Imai kit 1992
Right column top to bottom: Bandai 1967 friction drive toy, Morinaga 1992 Thunderbirds Super Real Model OX, Morinaga 1992 Thunderbirds Tracy Island Base OX [unbuilt - thanks to Terry H]
The same toys are here displayed without the boxes but in the same positions as above.
Finally, the OX's are here arranged in order of size.
This last shot shows a close-up of the unbuilt green Morinaga Tracy Island OX from 1992 courtesy of Terry. There are of course many more Zero-X toys and models than shown here. Do you have any readers?
WOODSY'S ADDENDUM
Reader SWORDGrasshopper mentioned the Glico OX. Here it is in all its miniature glory as featured on the blog previously and conveniently placed next to a ruler by a Japanese seller! Its 5cm long. I will measure the small Morinaga OX and add the dimensions here to see finally which is smaller.
Is it just the photos, or do the OX's wings get longer and longer?
ReplyDeleteha ha! Yes, see what you mean Andy. I must say I like the really lkong wings on the Imai 67. There is another Imai called the BIG model, which is even bigger. Wonder of that has the extra long wings?
ReplyDeleteyou just cant help yourself can you? rub it in!
ReplyDeleteOne day you WILL be Paul Travers!
DeleteGreat stuff Woodsey, I think the smallest Zero-x made is the Glico version, about 1"
ReplyDeleteHave got it somewhere but finding the little b****r is a bit of a mission.
Which one is the longest and widest?
That Glico OX is a beauty SGH! Wonder of its smaller than the tiny Morinaga in the pic above? The longest and widest appears to be the original Imai OX but I do have the BIG Model to look at yet! Just remembered!
DeleteFrom my memory I am quite certain the Glico 0X is just about 1 or 2mm bigger than the 2p coin.
ReplyDeleteOops I forgot to leave you the TB version of the 0X, will try and rectify ASAP
I'm pretty sure there is a picture on the blog if that Glico OX next to a ruler! I will try to find it.
DeleteAm I right in thinking SGHopper that the Captain Scarlet version of the Aoshima OX is the one with the Captain Scarlet logo on the box art? I know it seems like stating the obvious but it's good to be sure. And its the Captain Scarlet version that did NOT have a rock snake included? Is that correct?
DeleteYes Indeed you are right, the CS version is the one that does NOT have the Rock Snake.
ReplyDeleteBoth boxes are near enough Identical apart from the red sticker which reads THUNDERBIRDS
