At this time of year, I'm sure like many of you, I do like to watch my favourite old Gerry and Sylvia Anderson series Christmas episodes. As a youngster it was great to see my favourite characters enjoying Christmas too.
Everyone must know the Thunderbirds episode 'Give or Take a Million', which famously featured some of the JR21 Thunderbirds toys.
The Stingray episode, A Christmas to Remember', showed all the festivities going on at Marineville.
Fireball XL5 didn't have a dedicated Christmas story, however, 'Drama at Space City', did show Steve and Venus on vacation, at a snow covered alpine lodge. Like Troy and Atlanta, both Steve and Venus enjoyed ice skating.
Steve even wore his festive jumper.
The episode, 'The Day The Earth Froze', gave an opportunity to see Space City covered in snow.
The more serious nature of Captain Scarlet and The Mysterons didn't lend itself to a Christmas detour, however the snowy scenes, and the jaunty Christmassy music in 'The Avalanche' gave a little festive cheer, as The Mysterons suffocated most of the staff at Frost Line Defence!
Joe 90 didn't feature a dedicated Christmas story, however, 'The Unorthodox Shepherd' episode did have a Christmassy feel. In it Joe dresses as an Angel to foil a gang of counterfeiters, and there's a nice snowy scene at the end.
Happy viewing and Merry Christmas, folks. I'm off to the pub for some of that other festive spirit!
So nice to see these welcome ghosts of Christmas past Scoop. Thanks for posting, Regards Tony K
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Tony.It wouldn't be Christmas without a little Anderson magic.
DeleteI'll have a mulled wine Scoop! Loved this post. Those JR21 Thunderbirds look great on the Tracy Boys table. Don't recall that episode. How do they explain the toys?
ReplyDeleteI remember "Give or Take a Million" and I'm sure the snowy scenes in "The Avalanche" sent me out into the back yard with my Dinky SPV, but don't forget this Anderson Christmas episode:

Hi Richard,happy Christmas.
DeleteI did consider the Terrahawks episodes but as they weren't Gerry and Sylvia, I didn't include them. But they are certainly Christmas nostalgia for another generation.
