Celebrating 15 years of Ebaying in the UK, I had a pop at three items during July. Being on a limited budget I knew it would be tough, especially the JR21 XL9, which would have been a fine step forward for my Probe Force 3 fleet. Needless to say I didn't win any of them!
I thought I'd blog the pictures of the little space toys/ cake toppers baggy anyway. It looks like a mixture of Apollo Moon Exploring/ LP-style items and some others.
The capsule, the flag and the LEM I think are Apollo Moon Exploring/ LP inspired - the LEM radar even has the ribbed collar [doesn't the Triang SpaceX Mobile HQ have the same one?]
Its the small round lunar surface and the astronaut I don't recognise. Do you readers?
Never seen a moonscape like that either, but the rest is of the tpys in that baggy are by LP (or their moulds). Just not plated as they usually are. The two Apollo astronaut figures don't carry a trademark (just Hong Kong) but they always come with LP toys, and were sold by LP under their own trademark as well.

Are these LP Apollo Astronaut figures not part of the normal 'Golden Astronaut' gang then Paul? The one in the bag appears to be holding something in front of him - a camera?
ReplyDeleteGlad the 2005 and Beyond set went to a good home Ed! Well done. Its 2015 now so we should be seeing spaceships like that flying round by now! ha ha
ReplyDeleteCan't quite believe its 15 years since Ebay kicked off in the UK. It must be twenty is the States. I remember telling guys in the pub in 2000 that I'd bid on Ebay. They'd never heard of it! No-one had!
ReplyDeleteThese two figures will have been added to the LP line-up later, Woodsy. The original figures date from the mid-60s, and these two were added around the first moon landing which LP capitalised on (there was a set from a series doing so on the blog a year ago or so?).
ReplyDeleteOne of them indeed has a camera, the other (barely visible in those pics) has a shovel/scoop in his hands.

Yes, I know of those two figures but I had no idea that they were LP as well Paul. I have been educated once more! Thanks!
DeleteI was into Marx 3-rail O-gauge trains when eBay became big. Here in Vegas, it was impossible to find any but the most common examples so eBay was a Godsend. It has since helped innumerably with other finds as the '2005 & Beyond' set testifies. Happy Collecting Y'all :-)
