Hi Woodsy
I've attached some pictures of my Tudor Rose Space Clipper. The box was covered in tape when I got it. I removed 95% of it. The Kleeware version is moulded in two tone plastic and has small wheels with no friction drive.
I've also attached pic of a HK knock off Space Cruiser and one of a Tudor Rose Friction X-400 that had the wings smashed off and bad fin damage when I acquired it. I had to give it a paint job to cover up the repairs.

I.ve never collected any toys from the golden age of space adventure like these Tudor Rose toys. Probably because I didn't have them as a kid in the Sixties. Are they popular with collectors?
ReplyDeleteTR were a bit early for me, but the metallic green spacemen in hard plastic were always cropping up. They shared a lot in common with US Archer designs, very iconic and very pulp sci fi styling.
ReplyDeleteThose are terrific shots! Woodsy they are quite popular. The originals were made by Pyro here Stateside and they had X-100, X-200, X-300, X-400. Except I'm not sure about the Space Clipper - that may be an original Tudor Rose design. A boxed set of all four could set you back about $1500. The X-400 is the only one I'm missing. I believe the last time I bid on one I got outbid around the $400 mark!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Kleeware didn't make a version of the Space Clipper. Tudor Rose made the friction version but the toy didn't have a maker's mark on it, it's just marked on the box. Tudor Rose also made a version without a friction drive, but that one doaes carry the Tudor Rose mark. (Brian, Alphadrome)
ReplyDeleteCheers Brian. Thanks for clearing it up.
