I've been searching for the most futuristic toy truck and van I can find a la Thunderbirds. For the truck I don't think you could do better than the US Sears Turnpike Auto Transport. Or can you top this readers?
See what you mean Richard, that's one futuristic coke truck. I think the most futuristic trucks in oine place has got to be the TV shows of Gerry Anderson. It's odd how telly from 50 years ago still gives us a clear vision of the future. Did they know something we don't? Or am I being retro-nolstalgic if such a word exists?
I remember these quite distinctly. The Sears Christmas Wishbook was a staple in our household and they tended to stick around all year - wonderful reading. Anywho, back in the day these trucks didn't 'float my boat', I thought they just looked a little too weird. I guess my feet were too firmly planted in the here-&-now back then and the futuristic design didn't yet appeal to me. They wouldn't have fit in with my small fleet of Tonka and Tonka-esque trucks.Today of course it's different and these would make a great addition to the collection.
You've covered so many other futuristic toy trucks here that when I do a web search for that term, this blog shows up more often than anything else!
ReplyDeleteThat said, here's one of possible interest:

Anything with a very big windscreen, with the driver closer to the road, strikes me as more futuristic.
