Hi Woodsy,

I'm pretty sure you would have read Toyfare when it was around, for me the Bible for seeing which company was releasing what figures, the Zach Malamute column, island of misfit toys and last and by no means least Twisted Toyfare Theatre!

My favorite part of this publication, so many stupid stories, my favorite was mego planet of the apes figures dressed as Spidey, they robbed ATM's, got caught and the judge at their trial was a mego Charlton Heston, head of the National Rifle Association!!

You can guess what happens... Priceless!!

MYSTERY GLASGOW BOX 1971

I recently sold a large bundle of old RedBox childrens' toy shop items: fruit, cereal boxes, plastic tins etc.

In there was this mystery box, which I snapped before it all went off in the post.

Its not RedBox and wasn't like any of the other food boxes. i think this had been added by the previous owner. 

Its about the size of a matchbox.

It opens like this.

On the bottom is Cumbrae Supply Co., Glasgow S.W.2

BIG SHOUT OUT FOR THE OUTER SPACE MEN

Colourforms Outer Space Men - OSM - were my favourite space action figures as a kid. I had the first series and they played well along side my Major Matt Mason with only the occasional scrap breaking out! I so wish I still had them!

They were really beautiful toys and the accessories were so well designed. The whole lot were the creation of the great Mel Birnkrant.

Theirs a whole cottage industry of modern new figures on the back of Mel's genius and these innovations will keep the spirit fresh for avid collectors for years to come.

I'm personally happy with just my store of kid memories to be honest as OSM collecting could be addictive.

There are lots of OSM fans especially in their homeland, The USA.

THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA AND A JAPANESE COOKIE

I found two items that may be of interest to the blog.

A LLEDO mail in offer, A Spirit of America Sonic car. Has anyone any idea what the promotion was?

Also the package and contents of a Japanese Cookie. I ate the cookie but thought the kit boring so here it is still intact, it's from the '90's.

Paramount Super Science Series '69: The Custom Poster!

Woodsy,

I was inspired by your cool Project S.W.O.R.D. poster to create something along the same lines, but it isn't a fake movie poster, it's a fake catalog page, for the Paramount Hobbies line of SF model kits released in the U.S./Canada in 1969. The actual catalog used black and white thumbnails of the box art, so I made a full-color version using my 6 favorite SF models from that line, as I would have liked to see it back then. Enjoy!

TV21 SPECIAL EDITION #243 INCLUDING PROJECT SWORD

You can still get this modern one-off of this comic, which included among other things a new Project SWORD story. The artist Paul is a keen reader of MC!
