Mooching round Matlock's vintage shops I saw this die-cast shelf. Pink Panther and the blue wheely thing, are they Kenner Revrods?
Two SPVs. Looks like one's been painted dark blue.
The bagged balloon car bottom left is interesting. Anyone know it?
Bong Moonbuggy here. Can you name the red game part used at the rear of it? (Quiz question). The Interceptor has been repainted too. The bagged car hung up top left is another one of those unusual balloon powered vehicles.
This would have been my take-away if I'd been spending, this amazing Mattel Wizzer Gift Set. I absolutely adore the boomer box art! I had a Wizzer as a kid, a fabulous weighted spinning top. Did you?
a bit of spirited restoration going on there, the Bond buggy is a dogs breakfast! The two Balloon cars are Matchbox Zoomie Balloonies - basically a vac form shell over a diecast chassis with a plastic tubular body. A balloon was inflated and then attached to the top of the monster body, which forced air into the tube and out the rear end, which had a rubber tube attached to make a noise. The car was supposed to zip along making a loud farting sound. A bit naff, as the balloon invariably tipped the whole thing over due to its height. Bill
ReplyDeleteTa Bill. I didn't know what those ballooners were. Never seen em afore. Have you got all the Revrods?
DeleteIve got the blue one, think it was called Sidewinder, the green Eliminator, yellow Sand Scorcher and a beat up red one - which I cant recall the name of. They were marketed by Denys Fisher, but actually repackaged Kenner SSP models. SSP were a huge range in the states, with some beautiful car designs. Its something I would love to collect, but not really practical. Bill
DeleteThe Dinky Pink Panther car uses the same flywheel/ripcord design too and looks like it was actually based on an SSP chassis
DeleteCan't believe I forgot those tops! My brother and I had a bunch. I remember having one that glowed in the dark. It came with skull stickers. Plus I almost remember that there were accessories. I think there was some game to play with them?
ReplyDeleteI had two wizzers, one had a squarish top the other was rounded. The rounded one came with the blue hot rod car called pit boss. It was fun for a short time. The car relied on rubber bands on the rear wheels to provide grip and once they went, it lost any sort of fun lol. That said, the rumblers chopper figure could just fit inside pit boss and the cafe racer figure fit nicely in the hole for the wizzer
