As Christmas is almost upon us I'm getting nostalgic thoughts of past Christmas presents, so time to dig out some old space toys, and although all the X - series have been featured from time to time on the Blog, my favourites are these three.
As far as I'm aware there's 8 in the set, beginning with X-20, and ending with X - 90. (There may well be an X-10 I'm unaware of!) Apart from my three rockets, there's a rocket car, a robot, a race car, based on the real 'The Spirit of America land speed racer, 'a satellite launcher, and a Gemini space capsule.
Mine are X- 30 Space Explorer, X-40 Space Rocket, and a rebranded Century 21 toys X-60 Space Rocker & Launch truck..
These are amazing, absolutely glorious, what a wonderful lost world of "The Future" they depict! SFZ
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do, Zigg. Yes, their retro look really is nostalgic.
DeleteExcellent Scoop! There's at least one in this group I wasn't familiar with (the X-60). Cool!
ReplyDeleteThe X-60, the rebranded Century 21 toy turned up as a competition prize in TV21. Like Woodsy has said it really could have been a Project Sword toy.
DeleteGreat post Scoop. Like you I like the X-Series and your own three are superb examples. I think my favourite of these is the X-60, which would sit well among Project SWORD toys, especially with the neat rocket on the back of the truck. The nose trigger was a really smart addition.
ReplyDeleteCheers Woodsy. Yes, the X-60 is a popular one.
DeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love 'em, Anon.
