I'm remembering Konga week, with this recent re-discovery, a 1948 adventure film called Unknown Island.
A terrific movie, with some excellent man-in-suit prehistoric monsters, and even a giant gorilla! (See pic). Unknown Island was filmed in a two-color process called CineColor, and the restored DVD at least, is excellent!
Here's to another "Giant Monkey Week!"

Never heard of "Unknown Island"
ReplyDeleteSounds fun!

Oh, Unknown Island was on TV all the time in the New York area back in the 60s. Really a missing link between earlier films like King Kong and One Million Years BC, and the giant monster craze of the 1950s. Some great man-in-suit monster work too. It’s easy to find now online. SFZ
DeleteThat is one scary Gorilla on the lobby card!
ReplyDelete… and although that picture doesn’t represent it well, in the film it is a GIANT gorilla, like thirty feet tall, as big as the dinosaurs! SFZ
DeleteThirty feet, wow!
