Bill Everatt of Celtica Radio and blog supporter is in the process of restoring his Corgi Thrushbuster.
But he's not completely sure what shade of metallic/iridescent dark blue he should order. Or the paint manufacturer it can be purchased from. So he's looking for some advice.
Do the readers have any suggestions or know of where he can purchase a spray colour that would be closest to the original?
Thanks.
Don't know if it's right, but Ford Moonlight Blue metallic looks right. Maybe Halfords would have it?
ReplyDeleteThank you Kevin, I'll certainly be checking this out. Its greatfully received and if there are any further suggestions, I'll be happy to hear them.
ReplyDeleteOnce I've got the paint I'll be able commence and when it's all completed, I'll send Paul the full pictureset.
Completely coincidentally I've just ordered that very same paint from Humbrol as a test shot for my second bash at a Corgi Batmobile Bill! I see what Kev means. It reminds me of the Thrushbuster now I come to think of it but I haven't got one to compare it to. It looks great on the Batmobile ... in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteThere's another colour suggestion on this video Bill. See what you think https://youtu.be/JLPiNJTAy9g?t=1174
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul, I'll be initially going to Halfords early next week to select a colour based on the welcome advice here. Needless to say if any other blog readers would like add additional postings I'll be happy to consider them too.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to Halfords I'll take the toy with me to do a real time colour match. But thankfully, I now know where to look.
SIG.
Be aware, it is not like the good old days when the cap of a Halfords spray can was painted with the colour of the contents. Now it will just be a less than helpful blue sticker!
ReplyDeleteOh, and you might want to think about a gloss lacquer as a topcoat.
ReplyDeleteHi Kevin, yes I have a compatible clear gloss lacquer top coat already waiting to complete the respray. I will be spraying that after I've applied the bonnet slide transfer to the car, and not a paper sticker. Although its my intention to restore the Oldsmobile to factory fresh condition, I'm also going to do some tweaks to it as well.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, we shall see. I hope it will come out as nice as the James Bond DB5 and a couple of old Matchbox toys I've restored.
Fingers crossed.
