Some images from a Star Maidens post I did way back in 2018.
I'm cutting back on my more detailed articles at the moment as the current trend here seems to be just posting YouTube links which is fine and presumably popular, but it does take viewers away from the blog. However, for those who might be interested in my original Star Maidens post here's a blog link:

I prefer the detailed articles to YouTube links if I'm honest. I like the spaceships and designs in Star Maidens, other than that it was not great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev, glad to hear you like the more detailed articles.
DeleteAlthough I like Star Maidens, I agree, it's not for everyone, but it is very seventies, especially when it comes to Medusan fashion! ;)
Not to forget this wonderful Star Maidens website, now sadly defunct it seems but luckily archived by the good people at Wayback

As much as I daily enjoy the original contents provided by the Moonbase Central crew, I am as grateful for every interesting suggestion for contents on outer web sources. So much to learn out there that one may never come across otherwise!
That's fair enough, Arto, as a long time blog reader you're opinion certainly counts.
DeleteI do recall the Star Maidens website. There was plenty of background info and some nice photos of rarely seen publicity material too. Glad to hear it's been achived.

ReplyDeleteIt was your blog that got me started blogging 11 years ago. Going through trends is natural and to be expected but I really find it hard to do a post day-in and day-out, 365 days a year. I just have to step away from it to wrap my head around my life in general You have the capable assistance of two very fine people - Wotan and Scoop. It's a helluva lot harder being a lone wolf! Keep up the excellent work my friend!
Deleteand thanks so much Ed for stopping by so often. Its much appreciated. And I love your blog, the best toy close-ups around.
DeletePhew Woodsy, obviously not a fan of Star Maidens then! ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that's quite a response, almost a summons to the headmaster's office.
I've only mentioned how I, myself plan to post for the foreseeable future based on how the blog is changing.
As I've been one of the Moonbase crew since it more or less started, I assume your comment is for the readers.
Yes Scoop, for the readers.
DeleteI think Woodsys comment applies more to us as the ones responsible for posting, tbh Mike. It is a difficult task to provide original content several times, every day and the fact that we have persevered and remained popular for these last 14 years, is testament to his management of the content. I struggle to post anything lately and judging by your own recent bout of reposts, I assume you are under similar pressure. Whilst Youtube links may direct attention away from the blog per se, the blog isn't social media driven and remains a rick in a endless tide of content, which unlike Facebook etc, you can return to and not find you material has been buried under a torrent of pointless dross.
ReplyDeleteLike you I've been posting for more or less as long as the blog has been going, so there's no need to remind me of the pressure of posting decent posts which I think people will want to see.
DeleteAlthough it's Woodsy's blog, while I may not be as prolific, I like to think rightly or wrongly, that my contributions have helped to keep the blog going over the years. I'm simply reposting more stuff at the moment because as I said things have changed so why waste the effort.
I am not really a blogger or writer of any kind, but am incredibly grateful for the daily dose of childhood nostalgia you guys create.
ReplyDeleteI will continue to join in and comment on your articles as long as you keep 'em coming.
I will also try to create more myself in future, when I can.
Great work Woodsy and all. Please don't stop !
Thanks Mish, Don't worry there's no question of stopping!:D
DeleteHats off to you all for all of your contributions - whatever the size or style, I appreciate and enjoy the blog and the diverse mixture of features, articles and pics, that make it what it is - thanks guys :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for that, Tony.
DeleteLove love love Star Maidens! It’s “The 70s” in a nutshell, in both the best and worst ways. Believe it or not, Star Maidens was syndicated in the US, broadcast late Sunday evenings, if I recall. I caught most of them, and thanks to a budget DVD set, I can see them all now. Between the garish costuming, the pulp-fiction plots and not-too-bad miniatures, there’s much to ogle on Star Maidens.
ReplyDeleteI don’t mind at all the reposting of previous blog posts. As a relative newcomer to the MB scene, there is much previous content that I’ve missed and as they say, “If you haven’t seen it, it’s new to you!” In fact, I think that a “Best of Moonbase Central” would be fun, reposting some classic early posts.
For the record, I for one am eternally grateful for Moonbase Central and all that you do for it. It’s gotta be the best vintage space toy and TV culture blog out there, and I really don’t know how you guys do it on a daily basis. I am seriously in your debt. It’s my daily oasis of joy in this barren desert of a world of ours...
Ah, a fellow Star Maidens fan, Ziggurat! Its got its good points, hasn't it.
DeleteGlad you're still enjoying the blog, hopefully the three of us will keep you in joy for a good while yet! ;)
Yep, like Scoop says, lots more good stuff to come on Moonbase Central!
ReplyDeleteand thank you everyone for the thumbs-up for what we're doing! Long may it continue.
