That is a great idea, using the backing cards as part of a large background that you can assemble. Why did other companies not do that ? Put the packaging to work as part of the toy, and not just use it to sell the toy.
I was thinking the idea of a panoramic background is a great idea, making something special out of what would otherwise be just packaging. However a close look at the photos reveals a flaw in this great idea. The plastic blisters are not stapled on to the backing card, they are heat stamped like ordinary packaging. This means in all likehood the backing artwork would be torn as soon as the package was opened...
There was a whole set of 8 different carded Plongs on eBay last year. Here's some more info (in German, scroll down to the bottom of the page)
