Bikkies are a treasure trove of delights and have been my whole life. Much more important and prolific than cakes, biscuits have been a constant crumby friend.
Like the munching public that eat them, bikkies come in every shape and size and did when I was a kid too.
Weekly packets I would find in the barrel back then would be dry lovelies like Arrowroot, Malted Milk, Nice, Currant Shortcake and so on.
Some have been unwrapped for the last time too. Viscounts, can you still get those? Rondelloes, for the discerning muncher and definately vanished. Any more crumby casualties?
So which are your favourite biscuits readers? How do you take them? With tea, coffee or just plain dry?
Well, they'd have to be chocolate digestives, preferably milk, with tea or coffee.
ReplyDeleteNot dry though, they'd be too cloyey.
Chocolates biscuits, especially Toffee Pops, Mallowpuffs, and Chit-Chats. Non-chocolate would be Gingernuts, Super Wine, and Shortbread. Only the plain Gingernuts and Wine biscuits would be dunked in tea or coffee, the rest eaten alongside a cup of tea. Also, the newly discovered Iced Mini Donuts.

ReplyDeleteMcVities wheat digestives are the only brand that has lasted over the years.
ReplyDeleteI used to like Tunnock's Caramel Wafers, but the quality has declined to the point that the Aldi lookalikes are now better than the originals!
I'm surprised that the chocolate digestive is so popular across the globe. I find them dry and sort of powdery upon munching. Now chocolate rich tea, that's another story. Bikkie heaven!
