Hi Woodsy
Here is a great item from Max of Maxsmodels, on the history of the Klingon battle cruiser in the original Star Trek series, and the AMT kit.
The Klingon ship did not appear until the third and final season. The reason it appeared at all was the AMT, who had made a kit of the USS Enterprise, wanted an enemy ship to go with the Federation ship.
It was designed at the request of AMT, who provided the screen model for use in the series, so they could make and sell the kit. A great history lesson from Max.
Yours Sincerely,
Paul Adams from New Zealand
Max's Youtube histories of kit manufacturers are also very good, esp. companies such as Aurora.
ReplyDeleteHis general Youtube videos are also entertaining.
I certainly agree, the kit company histories by Max are very good. They do not just cover the big names like Airfix, Revell, Monogram, Aurora, etc, but many of the smaller, almost forgotten companies from around the world. He has just done one on Advent kits, a short-lived (1979-80) line of older kits from Revell that were sold in major US retail chains rather than model shops. I only found my first Advent kit last month in a model shop that also carries second-hand models, I had never seen one in NZ before. Max is also interested in model rockets and radio control model aircraft - if it is a model he builds it - and has company histories on these as well. There are also Viewer Build videos of models built by his army of Glue Troopers. He is a very skilled modeller - take a look at his amazing 1/32nd scale WW1 Felixstowe flying boat.
ReplyDeleteThe Trouble with Tribbles was season 2, and featured a Klingon D7.
