What a fabulous stash Rob. Let the summer begin! That local bookshop has some treasures!
ReplyDeleteAlready finished The Monitors - what a strange Sci-Fi satire. Not sure it works terribly well, but a fun, quick read. Just started "I Speak For Earth", which has the old "send us a representative of Earth" template, to see if our planet is good enough to join the great Galactic Federation of planets... My guess, NO!
DeleteGimmee that Simak one! I don't think I've got any of his shorter fiction (at least not as a Simak story collection). The rest looks like a nice read - Wandl the Invader sounds familiar.
ReplyDeleteThose ACE doubles are worth it just for the cover art! As for Simak I've never read any of his short fiction either, which is why that volume was so intriguing. Also, these days, I tend tot like shorter works in general. I couldn't read something like the Dune books, or the Foundation trilogy anymore, I don't think...
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about length Zigg, although I am really enjoying a full novel again at the mo, the Satan Bug by Al McLean. Looking at your stash I'm intrigued by the Ancient Engineers. Is that dealing with similar ground as Von Danekan's books, who I loved as a teenager. Chariot of the Gods and all that!
