I was interested when I saw this Mexican clip on You Tube because I thought I had the white ambulance.
It is an unboxing - or an unbagginbg in this case - a modern craze on You Tube - but you get to see all the small tin cars from 1970.
Here's an old post showing my own similar bigger ambulance, which was made in Japan.
Do you have anything like this?
Interesting. The toys all use the same basic model, but finished in different colour schemes. The roof is very low, so those in the cars would not have had much headroom. You can find similar unboxing videos on You Tube of Hot Wheels and Matchbox models. Here the cartons sent out to shops, each containing several dozen models, are opened, and the carded models are inspected.
ReplyDeleteIts a process perfected in post war Japan. Factories re-used all the metal scrap left over from the war and recycled it into toys. Often with older tin toys the original litho printing is still visible inside the toy. One basic shape is created and then a different design is litho printed onto the sheet before its pressed into shape, to keep production costs down to a minimum
ReplyDeleteTin automobiles are an amazing genre. Had a very few, but never managed to keep them. Held onto my die-casts much longer, for reasons unknown.
