Sixteen 12 Collectables have revealed what is part of their
set 7 - The ‘Breakaway part 2 ‘episode set.
Sixteen 12 Collectables have been kind enough to let me take
a few photos of their prototype models prior to being sent to the
manufacturers.
It comprises of Commissioner Simmonds’ V.I.P. Eagle
Transporter with those more realistic aluminium engine bells, and a completely
revamped and highly detailed V.I.P. pod, which has the orange V.I.P. livery
going up and over the windows rather than just the two sides.
The panelling is also much more detailed using a bold mix of
orange and yellow. Personally, I think it gives the Eagle a great look.
Although the V.I.P. Eagle is rarely seen in the opening
episode there is a minor bone of contention with fans over whether the orange paint is used on
the sloping top surfaces of the pod or
if it’s just on the sides .
The long out-of-production Product Enterprise version chose to go with just the
plain orange sides which are more like what we see on screen. It looks fine, of
course, but the revamped 16/12 pod is certainly a pleasing alternative.
A lot of people wanted to see 16/12 release a proposed Lunar
three Tank set. Sadly, the tooling and production costs on a limited run made it
an unfeasible project. At least those
who don’t have one of the Product Enterprise versions will have the opportunity
to get an alternative with this set.
The set comes with a detailed plastic display plinth, and a
Moon Buggy.
At the time of writing Sixteen 12 have given no official
release date for this set yet, although interest can be registered via their
website.

Superb photography Scoop. These shots and the models themselves raise the bar for Space 1999 collectables. I particularly like the Lunar Tank. It looks great. Well done again and thanks for sharing these prototypes from Sixteen 12. I imagine they will sell out when they're on sale.
ReplyDeleteThanks Woodsy, I'm sure they will sell out. The Lunar tanks are quite popular, and there are a few resin kits out there for the more experienced modeller. For the original props the builders used 1:25 scale Chieftain tank kits for the base.
