I was saddened to hear of the death of Jan-Michael Vincent, the star of the Eighties TV show Airwolf.
He also starred in the cult surfer flick Big Wednesday.
I never saw Airwolf but it and its fellow eighties TV fantasy vehicle shows offered an important and exciting sub-genre of collectables that I enjoyed tracking down at car boot sales in the 1990's.
Airwolf, Street Hawk, Knight Rider and Blue Thunder: merchandise from these series included softback TV tie-ins, annuals and Jigsaws. Knight Rider generated toys too but I didn't see any for the others.
One of my earliest toy seller names was Moon Zero Toys and I used to photocopy collages of stuff I had for sale in the early 90's for posting out.
Here's one such sheet, which included a Street Hawk novel top left as well as other books like Ripcord and Starsky and Hutch. Its faint because it was a watermark for typing over back then.
I also had a neat Blue Thunder hardback. This was about the experimental helicopter. Another was Firefox about a super jet.
Do you have any stuff from these types of 80's TV shows?
Anyways, rest in peace Jan-Michael. Airwolf too.

Kid has restored my old Moon Zero Toys sheet to its former glory!
Hey, thanks Kid!

ReplyDeleteCheers Brian. I wonder if the figure is based on Roy Scheider's character?
DeleteH'mm, if only we could see your sheet in a more vivid form.
