Some more vintage games and toys which have passed through the loading bay of Moonbase.
I loved Space Lines as a kid - a sort of 3D checkers. I can still see it now on my pile of prezzies one Christmas. My brothers got Mastermind by Invicta.
It was soooo futuristic!
Did it appear actually on Star Trek The Original Series?
The wonderful Hats Off. I loved the optimistic family box art on games like this in the Sixties. The ideal family.
What can I say about Striker. For those who didn't get the Subbuteo vibe there was this neat leg-kicking soccer set by Parker.
A dream to find almost complete at a car boot sale like this one I netted.
As a kid, like many of my compadres, I wanted to be a secret agent. Blame Bond. Blame Uncle. Blame Simon Templar. We were the spy generation and MI6 must have been rubbing their hands together.
Although I didn't have this Merit Special Agent set as a nipper, with its Saint and Bond inspirations, I was thrilled to find this at a boot sale too. Despite being incomplete I did manage to find the spring-loaded knife later on in mint carded condition on Ebay, another Merit toy.
I've blogged about a reader having a complete set on Moonbase before.
This is an old item on my inventory as a toy dealer years ago. I got in brand new in the Works, the fancy stationers on the High Street, a Star Trek Crew Members Exploration Pack. It may still be in the attic this one.
You can see it in the top left corner of this scan from the late 1990's. I scanned lots of flattter items to create a small flier that I sent out with sales lists of toys and memorabilia to mail order customers back then. I advertised in Model Mart. The picture says 2013 but the scan itself is much older.
This was an unusual vintage find, Strax Magitrack Fantasyland by Action GT. A sort of aerial runway for battery-operated sci-fi Sword and Sorcery style vehicles. It looks like the 80's to me and again I may still have it in the loft. Amazingly the concept is still available brand new on Amazon albeit in a different name.
This I still have. I saw it the other night looking for a lamp. Ertl's Modifiers in mint nick complete with neat plastic tools.
Its like a sturdy big Stomper.
I may donate it to the Grandson next year as he loves toy cars.
Anyone had or got any of these readers?
Love that Merit Special Agent Set, with ace graphics!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great box Arto. All the Merit secret agent sets have fab box art. Like the Saint and Avengers Target Sets.
DeleteLike yourself, Woodsy, I was fortunate enough to find an early boxed version of Striker, at the car boot. I'm not a footy fan, but it's a fab find simply for the nostalgia factor reflected in the simple yet imaginative mechanics of the players and the table top fun it offered on dark damps evenings after school. It was a seasonal regular in the mail order catalogues of my childhood. A couple of the players had old injuries but were easily replaced via the ebay subs bench :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure we'd find a Striker set for a cheap price at a boot sale anymore Tone. We were lucky it was a good transfer window! ha ha
