Sometimes when your looking for a Klingon up pops a Vulcan. Spock to be precise, Mister Spock and I'm starting to see him everywhere!
Like this for instance. Mattel must have based the look of Captain Laser on the Vulcan Mister? Do you agree?
Spock also became a poster boy for the first generation of geeks. He could be said to be Geek Zero. Here he is playing space chess.
and here's his doppelganger in 1970 on the box cover of the game Ploy, with what looks like Space Chess City in the background!
Speaking of space chess, which you can see to the left of this Star Trek screengrab, lesser mortals than Spock only got to play Space Checkers on the Enterprise on account of their limited brain function.
Here's the human version in the shops by Pleasantime.
I wondered about this game's Star trek credentials and this explains why I got a similar set one Christmas!
A Doctor Spockesque 3D Tic Tac Toe, it was called Space Lines in the UK.
Did you get a set readers?
I suppose its inevitable that Star Trek would influence other toys, th Colonial Warrior that uses Caps basic body from Battlestar Galactica looks like a cross between Ed Straker and Leonard Nimoy. You cant beat a game of standard draughts (checkers) adding another layer to it just makes it even more difficult.
