The attached shows a plastic beach toy, painted and crewed. The silver base for the mast was some kind of packaging possibley for an electric toothbrush. It sat in a 'bits' box until I decided to add detail to the basic toy.
Nicely done. You've poked my brain as I recall having this boat as a youth. Not sure but I think mine was red. What I do recall is years after it was gone, I had the dinghy and the two side rail pieces sitting off in my parts bin. The dinghy held a Hot Wheels Rumblerrrrr figure perfectly although it often sank.
Before being painted the hull was red, the superstructure was blue and there was a yellow water gun where the mast now is. It was made in the US and purchased in the 1990's.
I had mine maybe late 60's or early 70's, probably the latter. I know by 77 it was gone other than a few pieces lurking in the toy box. I don't recall the water gun feature but it appears that the inside of the stack moves to pump the water? I seem to recall a one piece half hose reel being on the back part of the ship, between the dinghy and the people in your pic, held in place by those two prongs.
You are correct about the half hose reel, the water canon was a fake. In the UK there was a working pump action fire boat that had a button inside the funnel that was the pump feature to a water cannon at the front. It was made by Tudor Rose and was possibly a copy of a US toy.
nice work,really! ew
