I haven't seen this figure before. I wonder who produced it, when was it produced and how tall it is? Possibly 1/6, or smaller? Either way, it looks like a really good Dan Dare, Terranova47
The figure was issues in 2010 by Day2Day Trading. The concept art was by Chris Weston who did the retro covers for the recent Dan Dare comic series by Titan Comics.
The figure is 1:6, 12” high, fully jointed with alternate hands. It was to be the first of several Dare figures but didn’t sell well outside UK where Dan is unknown.
Rather cheekily the makers used art from Spaceship Away magazine without permission.
Thank you for the link. As I never removed the figure from the box I suspect that your review is a fair one. Certainly the head sculpt is awful, neither the character as drawn or as a human with distinctive eye brows. The publicity shots showed the figure in some interesting poses but I was too old for the Action Man figures so have no interest in playing with this one. Nice blog by the way Kid.
Thanks, as is yours. I like the photos of Queens, NY - some streets look just like Glasgow. And the sculpture of the guy sleeping in a deckchair looks just like my late father in his younger days.

Thanks for the info. It's a new one on me. Great action figure :)
ReplyDeleteYup, got it, did a post on my blog (Crivens!) called Dan Dare - Pilot of the Past. Take a read and say whether you agree with me or not.
