The latest episode of Thunderbirds are Go, Chain of Command,
written by Joe Kuhr , opens with a
severely damaged suspension bridge , and a Global Defence Force vehicle teetering precariously on the edge.
Thankfully, International Rescue is already on the scene,
much to the relief of Colonel Casey.
The Driver is rescued, and the bridge is made safe by
gallons of expanding foam sprayed from a pod vehicle.
It’s the arrival of GDF hard man, Colonel Janus who rains on
their parade. Janus is GDF second –in- command, and ‘knows the right people’,
including Lady Penelope’s Father, who's had a few run ins with Janus!
He tells Scott and Casey, in his best Jack Nicholson voice
that GDF is not pleased, and the days of International Rescue acting on their
own are over. From now on the Thunderbirds have to ask permission to go on
rescue missions!
A great premise to what turns out to be a pretty good
story. Janus (boo, hiss!) is fine as the
pantomime villain, and the irrational voice of authority.
He soon suspends, Casey and takes charge, but as the ever
resourceful Parker discovers, Janus isn't all he claims to be!
I must say I enjoyed this episode. All the Tracy’s have a role
to play. There’s a fair amount of twists and turns to hold the interest, and
the whole thing is played pretty straight. We even get another little character
nod to the classic series at the end.
