Beautiful built and painted Aoshima UFO Moon Base including both UFO and Project SWORD vehicles. Not sure what the jet is under the central dome. Anyone?
A different take on the same kit below, this one set on a white lunar surface.
and the painted vehicles from this diorama as a group

The jet under the dome could be a Sky One, the plane part of the SkyDiver?

Presumably the jet is meant to be Sky1? That won't fair too well in lunar orbit!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys.
ReplyDeleteI still find it fascinating that the Japanese mashed together Project SWORD vehicles with UFO. I suppose it was fair game to mix it up with whatever Gerry Anderson story they fancied. Century 21 Toys did it as well by adding in the Zero X to SWORD!
The missile launch in the first pics caught my eye. It's very well done.

ReplyDeleteI have the kit, but never build it up. Personally I ever found more than a little mistifing the HUGE ramps in the habitat spheres (absolutely NOT canon! :-) and the UFO with too few side plates. Mnay of the other vehicles are instead very good indeed, considered their tiny scale and the year in which the set was originally produced.
Anyway, hey!: this is the only Anderson UFO Moonbase kit ever produced (AFAIK...), so, as they say, beggars cannot be choosers, isn't? ;-D

Hey that's cool that you have that kit Ervino. It is a great UFO Moon Base. Pity that we haven't yet found a Project SWORD Moon Base set as well!
DeleteHi Woodsy,
ReplyDeleteyou can still find easily enough the UFO MoonBase kit on ebay at a relatively reasonable prices (about 150€... hey! I said *relatively*... :-)
BTW: I have some photos of SWORD and Thunderbirds stuff that maybe you could be interested to publish (you already use one image of mine some time ago in a post on the Italian Baravelli astronauts... ;-)
Were can I send you them?
Cheers
Ervino
