Patina refers to a surface marking caused by age. Recast is a copy of something made by casting and moulding it. IOP stands for the Institute of Physics, but I'm guessing not in this case!
ReplyDeleteAha! [Danish pop group], that explains patina. Can toys have one? Recast then is the same as remould? It seems to be often to do with Marx figures. Who knows what IOP means. It could very well be 10P but I'm sire it was IOP!
DeleteGate Release Fee could be when annoying trick-or-treaters padlock your driveway gates shut and demand a release fee... okay... okay, I'm just guessing and I don't really know ? Although I'm sure 'Minty' was a character in Eastenders.
ReplyDeleteha ha! It was something to do with car auctions as was smog fee [there was a smog certificate as well]. Never watched Eastenders or any Soap for that matter. I know, I know, I'm a geeky bore!
Deleteha, ha IOP is In Original Packaging! HTF is hard to find, NIB new in box and Escrow is a third party intermediate agency for handling financial transactions and payments. You send payment to Escrow and once the other party completes their side of the deal, Escrow releases the cash. Trending is another of those ridiculous neologisms which basically means 'up and coming'. Another way of saying it which really winds me up is 'on trend'. Bit like the bank commercials which, rather than saying drop in, refer to it as visit us 'in branch'. Call me old fashioned, but it just get up my nose, like prople putting 'Wow!' in ebay listing titles - If its that good, why are you selling it?
ReplyDeleteWow! You clever sod! I suppose the next step up from HTF would be RHS or Rocking Horse Sh*t! And IOP, of course. But why not just write it out? So is Paypal escrow? Indeed are all banks escrow? I sense I need to go in branch and get on trend before I'll understand. Wow!
DeleteLMFAO! OMG WTF?
Deleteha ha!
DeleteASRAHT - as rare as hen's teeth, YMCOSETFT - you've more chance of seeing Elvis than finding this, ISTYTGOTACL- if someone tells they've got one they're a chuffin liar!
These are fun!Creamsicle is a name for an ice lolly;orange on the outside,vanilla on the inside.Lay-Away is popular around the holidays.Some stores allow you to reserve goods on the premises while you pay the total cost in small amounts.You pay in full, you get the goods.As always, I will do my best to clarify any uncertainties.Hope this was useful.
ReplyDeleteSo that's a Creamsicle Brian! Is it a form of Popsicle then? I suppose Lay Away is a bit like Hire Purchase or maybe even like a Christmas Club. Maybe even paying in installments. I guess pawning is the opposite?
DeleteStill a few left I can help with:
ReplyDeleteNOS = New Old Stock being original merchandise found in some warehouse or other; or original spare parts for vintage cars instead of newly produced repro parts
OVP = Originalverpackung = Original Packaging
VG+ = Very Good + being better than VG and less than EX(cellent) in a grading system for coins, stamps, comics etc
Estate Find = items bought at an estate sale, generally means sale of a deceased person's belongings
NIP = New In Pack
N.I.B. is I imagine New in Box?
LIS = Lost In Space
MOSC erm... Mint On Straight Card perhap?
HTF VTG = Hard To Find Vintage
The rest is beyond me. Or outside my field. Or both!
One I can add is NWOT which I see a lot on Spacex apparel and stands for New Without Tags (removed so buyers can't claim anything under warranty). BNWOT = Brand NWOT and perhaps there's a NWT too.
Best
