Continuing the thread about the 37 SpaceX toys, here are the two checklists [of different scan quality, and sizes, sorry] for ranges I and II from the rear of two different backing cards. They only total 33 here!
I love the fact that these are true checklists, with little boxes supplied for ticking off once you had that model. Reminds me of the checklists in ABC Bubble Gum cards like Civil War News. Don't think Project SWORD had anything like this.
Today's mystery from these lists - what's the 'Space Station' in the SpaceX I range?
The Spacex I space station was the large yellow thing with the 4 windmills and the tiny silver shuttle. It was called a space station in the big gift containing it, though I never thought it looked like one.
ReplyDeleteYep - Nuclear Pulse was always named 'space station' for some obscure reason!
ReplyDeleteI too think it refers to the Nuclear Pulse, esp since the Photonic Space Station was only announced later. Similarly, the LEM Apollo and pair of Soyuz aren't listed on the card backs either.
ReplyDeleteI still need to check the total of 37 you posted the other day, Woodsy, based on card back pics. I once had a count and then arrived at 37 if I counted the Apollo CM, LEM, Soyuz 5 and 6 separately. But your total seemed to add up so you have me wondering about my previous effort. :)

Well, I had another good look, Mr Woods, and we're both wrong...
ReplyDeleteYou've got the Moon Buggy twice in your list of card back pics, so there's 36 individual images there.
And my previous count also adds up to 36 if I count toys as they were sold on their own (which amounts to the same as your pictures).
But if I count the Apollo LEM, CM and the two Soyuzes as separate spacecraft, then I get to 38. So let's assume that whoever did the counting took the two Apollo craft as one, and the two Soyuz craft as two?
