Hi Woodsy,
stumbled onto your blog site while researching
this little water pistol. I saw it today at a flea market and could not resist.
I love the retro look of it!
I
called Mark Bergin to check his price on the pistol. His water pistol is sold
but he said he had exactly the same one as a cap gun. I'd love to find that at a
flea market. Make a nice pairing. I will now keep my eye peeled for other older
toys with similar artwork.

Woodsy says: thanks Stuart. These are much better pics than those I have! Ta! Your toy's card is unpunched too - must be a great flea market!
Looks to me to be a later molding in plastic of the Lone Star die-cast one cap gun. They marketed it a number of times I think first as a DAN DARE one, then STINGRAY and perhaps finally as a generic Sci-Fi type of thing in blue which I have. It was also actually seen in THUNDERBIRDS as a pistol Lady Penelope used in scenes where a real life performers hands were shown using it. Maybe Lone Star sold the molds on and this company did the cheaper plastic water pistol version as that sort of thing often happened back in the 60s/70s. Nice card art though.
