Picked up this little plastic Copter for a few cents in an old shop in the porcelain town of Meissen. I'm assuming it's a Kinder toy but I'm unsure.
After a climb up the steps in Meissen you reach the beautiful Cathedral square. At the top, besides the baroque splendour all around, we were treated to the massed motorbikes, many of which were classics, of the Easy [or Early?] Riders of Antwerp!
Cool copter! Yes, it reminds me of the one Kinder toy I've seen in person, belonging to my supervisor and living on her desk (a pink and purple squid).
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of Meissen! I'd dearly love to travel to Europe; my wife has gone twice, long before I met her. This looks like it was a nice day to go walking up a flight of stairs.
Gordon Long
Goddess! I am so sorry to hear your boss is a pink and purple squid, Gordon. (grins). That's gotta be hard. You could always try muttering "calamari" under your breath.
ReplyDeleteWoodsy, What was the story behind the bikes. The day-glow see-me jackets suggest they weren't Hell's Angels or anything. So what was going on? Was it actually veteran bikes?
Yep Toad, lots of classic bikes lined up next to the Cathedral. The bikers were all middle-aged and no doubt respectable Antwerpers complete with Hi-Viz vests. I was particularly interested in seeing if there was a Cerzeta Jawa scooter, which were made in communist CSSR. A fabulous looking snouted scooter and an equally brilliant looking plastic communist toy. I found the actual scooter in the Dresden Museum of Transport and managed to see a picture of the toy in the German version of Collectors Gazette called Sammler [aka Collector]. I'll do something on Jawas I think when I can find some decent piccies of the toy.
ReplyDeleteHi Woodsy, it's a Kinder helicopter indeed, released only in Germany (called "Kapselhubschrauber" in German). There was also an orange variant "K2" with a slightly different mold. Quite rare, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, please do, Woodsy. Cos I have no idea what Jawas are like.
ReplyDeleteAnd looks like you made a lucky purchase there, going by what Arto says!
