When I originally covered these in One Inch Warrior I suggested that the robots in Sam Slade Robo-Hunter were the basis for them, I now realize that dates for the strip against the toys means the artist for the comic definitely had the LP robots on his desk/mind!!
i do like that song - it was featured in the Duane Barry episode of X-Files when hot Scully was abducted!
