From the desk of Paul Vreede comes a major piece of research on the Triang Rovex Interspace Miniatures series. Because these inexpensive and fragile toys were readily available in many different venues, as opposed to the more high end market for the Sword toys, they were made in great abundance and stacked high and sold cheap. As a consequence of the production and marketing process, variations exist in some number and Paul has been endeavouring to compile a definitive list of what hit the stores, both in the UK and internationally, under the Golden Astronaut brand.
The actual checklist is available from the link near the top of the page - contributions are welcome either to Paul at his address or to me, Wotan .
Paul takes up the story:
This list is still a work in progress, which I'm compiling to try and establish the order in which variations came about in Spacex vehicle production. I've started by listing everything in my own collection plus what I've received from friends and fellow-collectors for my website (which never seems to get finished — 90+ Mb so far and still lots to get through :) It's by comparing a larger number of samples that certain patterns can become clear, so if anybody can add to this information perhaps some more conclusions about the sequence of changes can be made.
Variations on Spacex vehicles fall into a number of categories as described below, the combination of which means that some vehicles (can) exist in quite some variety. The list only concerns Spacex Stage 1 vehicles, except the threesome of Pippin Spacex toys at the end.
Go on then boys - where's the checklist? You can't dangle somthing like that in front of us and then not deliver? It's like going to a birthday party on the promise of Jelly & Ice-cream and finding you can only look at it through the round window!!!
ReplyDeleteMy small sample only has one variant, a colour reverse on the Moon Bus body which I think is quite common?
'Salafr'...someone who is exited at the prospect of something which is out of reach!!
ha, ha - its at the top left of the page, under the international headings.

ReplyDeleteExcellent work, Paul. I'm going to dig out my Spacex to compare to your list, but I'm away for much of this week, so may be a while.
