There's a chess board, some Britains 'Detail' knights, a cheap Market Stall/Hong Kong battery-operated Sherman, some Lego, a loo roll?...AH! Yeh, Blast-Off leaning up against the wall, how did you spot that???
Hee Hee, well done PT and Maverick, Blast Off it is. I thought Time Bandits was too late for a game like that but maybe they were trying to recreate a late 60's/early 70's kid's room. Then again, I don't know when Blast Off stopped being produced in that livery. A cool game, I remember it well, along with Formula One and the wonderful Battle of the Little Big Horn. Bet you like that one Maverick, it's full of great plastic figures.
And yeah Sean, I reckon Action Man was like an extra in loads of kid's TV prgrammes! I know he's showed up in Thunderbirds or similar. It's pictured on the Space 1999 Forum. I'll have to dig it out. I remember getting the other military action 'doll' at Zodiac Toy Shops, but can't remember it's name. He had a square squashy face!
It was my older brothers Steve who had every board game under the Waddingtons sun. I loved Battle of the Little Big Horn because of all the figures on horseback! Another cool game was Railroader. I have sold at least two of each over the last ten years - picked up at boot sales. Not seen a Battle of the LBH for ages though. Shall I keep a look out for you PT?
No. Thanks for the kind offer of looking for a copy, Woodsy. But there will be no more toy buying for me for a while. Sigh.
I was just hoping you might have a copy of the rules. I've seen a photo of the game, and it's the figures you mention which attract me to it - i love games with good pieces.
The big toy action in TIME BANDITS is the full-size bottom half of the Micronauts "Mobile Exploration Lab" that's featured in the climax of the film. Here's a picture of the toy: http://www.innerspaceonline.com/mego1/76-1pg5.jpg
Hi PT, there's some great shots of the Battle of Little Big Horn at Board Games Geek but can't see any instructions. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/5321/the-battle-of-little-big-horn
That's it Sean, TOMMY GUN. He was great. A strange head I seem to remember but some cool and complex accessories. It all got mixed up with my Action Man stuff. I later added a Kung Fu cheapo 'action man', which I got at Zodiac Toys too. the only thing I have left out of all this tackle is the header card for the Kung Fu guy! His Kung Fu must be strong!
An Action Man astronaut guest stars in UFO, I forget which episode - 'Close Up', maybe?
ReplyDeleteSean
Is it "Blast Off!" you mean, Woodsy?
ReplyDeleteHave you ever played that?

ReplyDeleteWoodsy - you had "Battle of the Little Big Horn"?
ReplyDeleteDo you still have it?

ReplyDeleteI think the Zodiac doll was Tommy Gunn, which originated with Pedigree, a Lines sister company of our old friend Pippin.

Nice one Devlin. I've looked at the You Tube clip and just can't see those Micronauts. At what point do they appear?

ReplyDeleteWoodsy, you came up trumps again! The rules were at the Board Game Geeks website. But they are in a compressed format called .ace (,_,)
Any of you PC users able to open it and copy to text for Toad, please?
