Christmas Supermarket Ads
There appears to be two types of Christmas TV ads from the big UK supermarkets this year, kind-hearted and mean spirited.
My favourite so far is the BFG one. With great big friendly words like Delumptious and Telly Telly Bunkum Box and the final message of It's Christmas, we'll Make Room, it captures what surely Christmas is all about, good will to all, despite the ardour and baggage in everyone's lives.
That's the Christmas magic: to make room.
Then there's the ad where two grown-up brothers are arguing loudly in front of a flip-chart pictionary drawing with the family watching on silently aghast. Really? Do we really need an expensive Christmas ad to remind us of all our usual baggage, all that family aggro we all endure anyway?
No Xmas magic here; just the same old trouble.
Which style do you prefer?
Is November Christmas?
I went to see Predator Badlands at the local Vue cinema last night. I loved the film, really enjoyable in a Pitch Black sort of way, with some fun nods at it's AVP ancestry.
The thing that struck me being out were the number of Christmas trees in the mall. All the restaurants had big ones up already, with a many restaurants totally trimmed up.
I'm fairly sure that the whole of November is now part of Christmas, beginning immediately after Halloween!

Star Wars Recycling
There's a Star Wars toy in here somewhere.

Flying Star Moon Craft
It looks fantastic!
There's elements of the USS Enterprise and Thunderbird 5 in there.
I love the blue and orange colours.
Is this a toy you know?
Payva the Way
Ever since finding this Payva toy series, Series Espacial, on Todo I've loved the look and the link to the Blue Box originals.
I think I like the Spanish boxes more than the UK releases.
The one missing is the elusive space tank car.
Anyone got any of these toys from any maker?

Searching for Thunderbirds The Anniversary Episodes
A while back during lockdown I recall a company called Century 21 Films making three new supermarionation episodes of Thunderbirds.
It struck me as a massive and heroic mission at the time, to recreate the greatest kids TV show of all time.
Having just remembered six years on and wondering if they ever finished, I've been in search of the episodes, hoping they're available to the public via streaming, so I'm going to look.
In the meantime here's what the company says about them on their own website.
Anyone seen them?

Small And Hexcellent!
It always amazes me what's out there to get.
As a young teenager I was mad about Witches Tales comics and the related titles like Horror Tales, much to my Dad's 'horror'. I guess the covers were pretty gross!
Anyway searching for miniature bibles I came across tiny versions of Witches Tales ... For dolls houses! Now that's the kind of dolls house I'd like!
I guess you can miniaturize anything!
What would you make small readers?
