 I've had fun with this car boot cheapo.

His plastic face was damaged.  On the nose, mouth and ears. A right scalpel job!

Initially trying PVA glue, which didn't work, I then deployed FIMO into the holes.

A little colouring later with a paint pen and voila!

All this fella needs now is some feet!

Juthbacka 2025

Hello Woodsy

Just wanted to send you a selection of finds from the Juthbacka Fair which took place again last month. This year proved to be more normal compared to last year's mega hoard.

First up are the remains from the same seller who had that tremendous lot last year. I was in the hopes that there would be more this time around, but it was just the rests. Still a couple of MOC Space Precinct figures and more to pick.

An unstarted kit of Antonov AN-24 made in East Germany has lovely box graphics too.

The bear with a spinning wheel has an interesting British connection that I have not been able to discover yet. The box side says "Made in Finland of original English Palitoy and Vogue parts". 

Was there a Palitoy version of this toy, and who are Vogue? There is also a knitting bear in a rocking chair and a bear with a sewing machine in the same series of these wind-up toys.

Last photo shows a group of diecast soldiers that has seen some serious action on the field. These are marked England but no maker.

The Giger The Better!

 The word grail is often used to describe this toy. Few others can make your blood boil with excitement like this one does:

The elusive and gargantuan Kenner 18 inch movie ALIEN from 1979.

Mere mortals like us will seldom see one, never mind owning such a lethal beauty.

Like this super example, seen on auction, they fetch eye-watering amounts that will make holes in your hull before you can say Xenomorph.

It's always surprised me that Kenner or a modern outfit like Super 7 haven't re-issued this fabulous monster.

Other than making one yourself at home from a long-legged Barbie, there are supposed alternatives, that won't eat your wallet.

Here are two I found after I consulted with Mother!

Hobby released a 1:5 scale boxed beast and it does appear to be faithful to the Kenner. I assume it's 18 inches but not sure. Looks pretty good with it's head dome. Anyone got one?

NECA released their own creature too. This is 1:4 scale so again I'm unsure how tall it is. It's a lot more wiry this time and appears to be dusted down - maybe that's from an open box? (this was on eBay too.)

I'll be honest, I prefer the Hobby version, but really I just want a Kenner and these impostori, as cool as they are, would be mere drop-ships on the way to Shangi-La!

Rob C's Mystery Spaceship Design

I sent you these pix some time ago, but I'm sending them again to see if Moonbasers can solve a mystery for me.

This is the Apollo 27, a retro Sci-Fi rocket model produced in 2009 by Pegasus Hobbies.

I swear I saw a post on Moonbase several years ago which featured an identical design, either from a comic strip or a toy from the 1950s or 1960s.

 I vaguely thought it was connected to the Dan Dare franchise, but that didn't pan out.

Does anybody recognize this design from an older toy or comic strip?

 I know it's a fairly generic design, but I swear I saw this particular design somewhere else before the 2009 model came out.

Non Tuk Tuk

Hello Woodsy,

It will be a few days before I can dig up my Tuk Tuk, so here is my model of a Morris Oxford made in India as a Hindustan Ambassador.

 I think this model may be from the same range as my Tuk Tuk made in India, 5" long, all plastic, unpowered by MINTOY.
