NASA are sending astronauts to the moon again!
Next Year!
Four of them.
Hard to take in after such a huge gap.
Maybe it's the first step in creating a MoonBase?
I wonder if it will be huge global event this time?
What do you think?

Good, if true but I'm not convinced they have the funding. We did this in 1968 and only now are trying to do it again?
ReplyDeleteI'll believe it when I see it! In fact, I won't believe it when I see it! With CGI and AI assistance, it would be so easy to fake this stunt today, like Kubrick did with the first "moon landings," that it will be impossible to take seriously. Recall, they still haven't figured out how to pass humans through the deadly Van Allen Radiation Belt! And 50 years without a moon trip suggests something was rotten in Denmark all along. This is a PR stunt, pure and simple. SFZ

DeleteThey're not going TO the Moon next year, they're going around it.
ReplyDeleteIt's an Orbital flight, with a wide arc on the far side, taking the astronauts further from the Earth than ever before.
They won't land on the surface !
It's like an advanced Apollo 8 flight.
They don't have a finished or tested lander yet, so it'll be a couple more years, at least, before they actually return to the Moon.
Is the arc so wide that they wouldn't have to leave the ground???🤣
DeleteMy bad Mish. My ears must be clogged up with Moondust!
DeleteAt least it is a first step, and we need that. A new beginning.
ReplyDeleteI want to see this happen, but science is no longer a priority in the US. There doesn't seem to be much appetite for extended research, just publicity stunting.
ReplyDeleteIf they don't get the lead out of their saddlebag, the next feet on the moon will belong to the Chinese or Indians!
Godspeed NASA!
ReplyDeleteNo worries Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteSeveral news agencies miss reported a return to the Moon.
Truth is, we may be going back, but not next year (unless the Chinese get there first, and don't underestimate them !).
