THE SNOW TRAIN

We have lots of the white stuff here at Winter Moonbase!

Probably my favourite snow pics ever sent to MB are these from 2013.

In 2013 reader Joe Murray has sent in these brilliant shots of his recently constructed card Snow Train. Joe made it from scans of the Century 21 Make A Model book and its the first time I've ever seen it made up.

Joe says "in the polar regions of this planet, the Snow Train has been trudging along. From the center of the blizzard in Connecticut, U.S.A".

NEWSFLASH! EBAY WILL ONLY PAY WHEN DELIVERY IS CONFIRMED!

Well, after Evri's announcement come's Ebay's. And tarnation, its awkward!

Ebay will from February only pay out to sellers after delivery is confirmed!

As a seller I'm trying to get my head around this. For me it will mean everything I sell from now on has to be tracked and therefore delivery can be confirmed to Ebay [in theory!]

For more IT-savvy sellers they may use Ebay's own printable stamps but I still go to the Post Office.

What will this mean for you if you sell readers?

Now That's a Big Batmobile

I saw this massive plastic Jada Batmobile in a charity shop. The 12 inch figure was sat at the wheel, so you can imagine how big it is.

I was sorely tempted at £3.50. this thing is even bigger than the fabulously big Mego batmobile.

I resisted ,(the one pictured is on eBay) but was reminded of the film The Batman, which I've begun watching for the second time.

It's a tough watch, simply because it's 3 hours long and filmed largely at night-time.

I'm plodding through. Two hours to go!

It doesn't help that the new Batman has a non-descript face under the mask and looks like a depressed teenager without it, floppy dark hair and all. It's hardly Affleck and miles off Keaton.

The whole hard-boiled noirness has gone into overdrive and everyone is subsumed into a Nirvana-hooked darkness, literally. Characters are blurry shadows in an endless wet night. No-one stands out, not the Penguin, Catwoman or Gordon. Not even the Riddler, all drowning in spilled ink.

Maybe it's just me. After all this flick reached the Oscars and promises a whole new Bat franchise, the Penguin riffing in his own series already and The Batman 2 coming out in 2027.

I dunno. It's just not DC. Maybe it's too DC. Come back Tim Burton, Gotham needs you!

SUPERMAN'S GLASSES: WHAT A SPECTACLE!

I stumbled across a piece on the RPF forum about Superman's glasses as worn by Christopher Reeves in his Clark Kent movie guise.

Turns out they're these I think.

Who knew!

Even Smaller and Smaller

In response to Ed's micro LEM model, I came across these figures while building a vintage Aoshima Saturn V kit last night. Having made the model, I noticed what I assumed was flash still on the sprue, as no more parts were shown in the instructions. Then my failing eyesight realised they were tiny spacemen, barely 3mm high!

Zython Sunshine

I love a good recycled toy story and the Zython's another one.

Mattel used an existing line of dolls they had to make Zython, the Space 1999 alien. At least the body.

It was the Sunshine Family pictured above, the adults. Mattel just made it green.

If your'e considering recreating Zython why not try and get hold of an original Sunshine Family doll! I cheated and bought a green Monster High.

FYI UK READERS! You Cant Pay for Evri in a Post Office Anymore!

Changes to Pay in Store services

ParcelShop 'Pay in Store' ends January 6th

From 6th January 2025, we will begin rolling out updates to the software on our Pay in Store devices at ParcelShops. As part of this update, you will no longer be able to book or pay for deliveries in-store.

Here's what this means for you:

You can no longer pay for Evri in a Post Office
You can still print labels and return parcels using our Pay in Store devices.
To book parcel deliveries, you can:Visit your local Post Office in person, where Evri services are available at selected branches
Download the Evri App
Use our website at Evri.com

This change will take effect from 6th January 2025.

We appreciate your understanding as we continue to improve our services.
