I've read that Amazon have bought James Bond.
The Brocollis are done. Jeff Bezos now has a licence to thrill and Alexa wants to be a Bond girl.
I'm unsure what to make of it all yet. Will it mean lots of Bond TV series rather than films in the way Disney have gone with Star Wars?
I thought Daniel Craig was just ace as a modern Bond. Tough, suave, gritty, no messing. I'll miss him.
No more Craig or Broccoli. It's the end of the Bond era in more ways than one.
What do you think readers?
I have never been a Bond fan, so I've no real views on it but from what I read about modern versions of my old favourites, I'm quite glad that I just stick to my DVD'S of the originals and don't watch the new stuff!
ReplyDeleteSean Connery.
ReplyDeleteI've felt that if you're going to remake Bond (the only option after the last film) you should go back to the books.
ReplyDeleteThe character is very much of his time and despite Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig attempting to imbue him with modern sensibilities, the book Bond is a pig.
As such the books should be refilmed, all set in the 1950s-60s time period.
You could revisit the post-war British cultural revolution, with Bond as an Establishment member attempting to stem the tide, King Canute style!
At least we'd get to see Bond tooling down English country lanes in his Battleship grey Bentley!
