I've read that Amazon have bought James Bond.
The Brocollis are done. Jeff Bezos now has a licence to thrill and Alexa wants to be a Bond girl.
I'm unsure what to make of it all yet. Will it mean lots of Bond TV series rather than films in the way Disney have gone with Star Wars?
I thought Daniel Craig was just ace as a modern Bond. Tough, suave, gritty, no messing. I'll miss him.
No more Craig or Broccoli. It's the end of the Bond era in more ways than one.
What do you think readers?
I have never been a Bond fan, so I've no real views on it but from what I read about modern versions of my old favourites, I'm quite glad that I just stick to my DVD'S of the originals and don't watch the new stuff!
ReplyDeleteI thought the new Casino Royale was the best of the new batch Kevin. Vesper, le Chivre, James, its a good 'un and should you ever dip your toe into the new stuff maybe try it!
DeleteSean Connery.
ReplyDeleteYep, he was the iconic Bond for sure, hard to beat for sure Baron.
DeleteI've felt that if you're going to remake Bond (the only option after the last film) you should go back to the books.
ReplyDeleteThe character is very much of his time and despite Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig attempting to imbue him with modern sensibilities, the book Bond is a pig.
As such the books should be refilmed, all set in the 1950s-60s time period.
You could revisit the post-war British cultural revolution, with Bond as an Establishment member attempting to stem the tide, King Canute style!
At least we'd get to see Bond tooling down English country lanes in his Battleship grey Bentley!
Yay, a Bentley through the leaves! That would be cool Looey. Interesting what you say about the books. I've not read any so to hear he was a pig is news to me, although I can't see Amazon going for that, not this day and age. Personally I think they need someone strong and suave or it just wouldn't be the Bond as we've come to know him.
DeleteSorry, we disagree on the Bond novels. They are period drama and I like them very much.
DeleteLots of fans here too Baron.
DeleteGlad to hear you liked the Daniel Craig 'Casino Royale' Woodsy, as I worked on it, briefly (uncredited), with top model effects man Bill Pearson and VFX Supervisor Steve Begg.
ReplyDeleteI made various background models, in 1/3rd scale, for the sequence with the collapsing building, set in Venice, which was filmed at the outdoor effects tank at Pinewood Studios.
Wow! Kudos Mish! Yep, easily the best of the Craig era! The parkour scrap at the start among the scaffolding is stunning. Do you have any bloggable pics of what you made?
DeleteWow Mish! I'm in awe! That Venice sequence was flawless and it was only later I learnt it was miniatures. My last miniatures job was Dark City. After that CGI barged me aside and I lurked around the Art Department making concept models, or in the prop shop if I couldn't score that gig!
DeleteWith this purchase, it is safe to say that Bond is dead. Like Disney did with Star Wars, the franchise will now be pulled in all sorts of woke directions until it is unrecognizable. At least we have the DVDs of the good ones. SFZ
ReplyDeleteBond is dead! Blimey SF. Could be a headline that!
