LOLLIPOPPERY

I was wondering about ice lollies I ate as a boy. For some reason I associate Cleveleys near Blackpool with delicious lolly scoffing.

But I'm confused. What was the difference between a Split and a Mivvi? Any?

BLUE MOUTHED APES MYSTERY

I've just seen a film clip on TV of a guy being chased down a corridor by a gang of apes with open luminous blue mouths.

Does anyone know what this might be?

PS. Thanks to a reader here we have the blue mouthed creatures in the flick Attack the Block, which I have never seen. They look great! I thought they were apes but they're aliens. Yikes! Have you seen it?

CHILDREN OF EARTH

I'm currently watching Torchwood's 3-episode Children of Earth on BBC iPlayer.

All 41 Torchwood episodes are on iPlayer..

I must say I'm enjoying Children of Earth. I'm some way through episode 2. the only downside is the incessant music, which reminds me of a discordant war of the Worlds soundtrack.

Not being up on modern Doctor Who I was wondering if readers knew the origin of Captain Jack Harkness? Was he in Dr. Who? Was Torchwood?

I wonder if readers think that Torchwood is as good as modern Dr. Who? It is the same writer I think.

Dinky Mini Klingon

At the latest Auckland collector's fair I picked up a mini Dinky Klingon Cruiser, copyright date 1979, for just $4 NZ. In excellent condition. Very pleased. All metal construction, painted blue, with black, yellow, and silver stickers above the wings.

Noggin the Nog, like other Oliver Post animated stories, were delightful, probably too slow for Moonbase Jr.

When I discovered a company was making Noggin characters I ordered one for 'Northern Heights'.

Here he is when local dignitaries were gathered for the dedication ceremony.

TOUCHING ON TORCHWOOD

Taking cues from a book Wotan gave me called TV Horror I have been watching some TV shows I've never watched.

An episode of X-Files - Home, an episode of Buffy - Hush and one of Masters of Horror - Jenifer.

Currently I am watching the first episode of series 1 of Torchwood, something I never thought I would like. My book has probably over-egged its appeal but I shall give it a whirl.

I never bothered with Torchwood or indeed any Doctor Who spin-off. I'm not much of a modern Who fan really but the suggestion that Torchwood can be classed as horror has got me intrigued. I'm amazed it was on at 9pm in the UK. Is that right?
