Taking cues from a book Wotan gave me called TV Horror I have been watching some TV shows I've never watched.
An episode of X-Files - Home, an episode of Buffy - Hush and one of Masters of Horror - Jenifer.
Currently I am watching the first episode of series 1 of Torchwood, something I never thought I would like. My book has probably over-egged its appeal but I shall give it a whirl.
I never bothered with Torchwood or indeed any Doctor Who spin-off. I'm not much of a modern Who fan really but the suggestion that Torchwood can be classed as horror has got me intrigued. I'm amazed it was on at 9pm in the UK. Is that right?
Did you watch Torchwood? What did you think?
I did watch Torchwood. I liked the first two seasons but the 3rd and 4th weren't for me. 4 was too long and 3, Children of Earth is one of the most bleak views of humanity I've seen on uk TV.
ReplyDeleteX Files Home is something else alright!
I will have to see if I make it to season 3 Kev! I lack will-power when shows go on too long! Home was a classic Monster episode of the X-Files, human monsters. I prefered the stand-alone monster tales they did to the ongoing alien conspiracy thing.
DeleteOh, I'd recommend Millennium from the XFiles stable, it's very good.
ReplyDeleteI saw a few Kev. I like Lance Henriksen a lot as an actor of the dark side of things. I first came across him in Pumpkinhead!
Deletetorchwood got off to a promising start, but became derailed with too great a focus on Captain Jacks sex liife. Then the car driving goldfish arrived and I gave up on it. Millenium, as Kev says was good, but very bleak. X Files was something special.
ReplyDeleteWhen does the goldfish arrive?
Deletethe most horror - iffic Torchwood episode was "Countrycide". It's a stand alone episode and shows the series at it's best.
ReplyDeleteThanks Unknown, I'll watch it after I finish Children of Earth.
