REWORKING THE EWOKS

This the Paliltoy Tree House I mentioned yesterday. Wrongly I thought it became the Ewok village.

But this is the Ewok Village and it was by Kenner.

Fascinatingly Mark J from Southcoast Base told us that the Ewok Village became the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves Sherwood Forest. Brilliant!

Mark also mentioned how the kenner Gamorrean Guard was recycled into the Prince of Theives Friar Tuck! Now that is priceless! I love recycling like this.

But the Star Wars Robin Hood recycling doesn't end there. Action Figure Insider describes and depicts dozens of examples of re-use, which also include other Kenner action figures as well as Star Wars.

FOUR ACTRESSES

As an ardent film fan I thought I'd mention four actresses who have caught my eye of late. Some young. Some old

Ivy Rhodes. Ivy stars in my infant Grandson's favourite song video on You Tube, Baby Shark. Once you've heard it you can never forget it! Ivy went on to star in horror films of all things!

Joanne Whalley starred as the murdered daughter in Edge of Darkness, the seminal 80's TV eco-drama. It was an excellent role. She also starred in Willow, a fantasy film I've never seen. Joanne went on to marry the leading man, Willow himself, Val Kilmer.

Mia Sara was the beautiful young star of Legend alongside the love-struck Tom Cruise. Mia redefined the black dress in that film! She went on to marry the son of Sean Connery and later the son of Jim Henson. 

Angela Mao Ying was the female star at the start of Enter the Dragon. She played Bruce Lee's sister. Angela was also known as Lady Kung Fu and starred in her own martial arts films like Hapkido. She now runs restaurants in New York!

Tree Houses for Jawas and Apes?

Brian F mentioned his Jawas Playset recently. If its a treehouse I'm wondering if Palitoy used the same design for this star wars toy and the more general plastic treehouse they released?

Wasnt there also a Planet of the Apes treehouse by someone much earlier?

WEEBLES WOBBLE BUT ARE THEY LITTLE TIKES?

Weve been buying Little Tikes toys at local boot sales for our Grandson, Moonbase Junior. Its tough colourful plastic and simply designed kids stuff like bulldozers and rail tracks.

Ive noticed that the tubby little people who drive Little Tikes toys are very similar to what my daughter played with called Weebles in the 80's. You remember? Weebles wobble but they dont fall down?

Are Weebles and Little Tikes related?

JANE BLONDE: THE KOREAN FILE

In 2017 I did a post about Jane Blonde secret agent dolls.

It lead to some interesting discussion in the comments about their origins and whether they were knockoffs or customs or what.

Looking back over previous action dolls on Moonbase I asked contributor Paul Kaiju about his Lady Hawk below.

Paul said: " The Doll I own is ball jointed resin, by a company called Luts and their "Chic line". They are sadly discontinued. They are pretty technical and strung like old school dolls. I used to do custom airbrush doll makeup and resin eye parts long ago before I began manufacturing my own Kaiju toys."

Being completely new to me I checked the LUTS brand. They're Korean.

 I realised that it indeed wasn't a Jane Blonde relative nor a line of secret agents but I thought I'd share the link to their site nonetheless as its so unusual. Doll collecting is big business - I imagine much bigger than space and robot collecting - and some of the prices are eye-watering. 

The dolls are interesting too like this Commander of the Blue Knights.

MATTEL'S MORK FIGURE

I mentioned my loose Mork action figure find earlier.

Looks like he's by Mattel from 1979. Probably came carded with a neat eggship originally like this much better figure I saw online.

PLAYMOBIL ANYONE?

In July my Missus picked up this large cream and yellow Playmobil plane [missing rear fin top] at the local car boot sale. Its a fine sleek toy and really quite big.

So this morning we were thrilled to find even more Playmobil vehicles going for a song at the same sale: a chopper and a boat. Incomplete, which seems to be the way with loose Playmobil, they are still gorgeous looking toys. I will need to start to bone up a bit on this range as we currently know very little. Do you collect Playmobil readers?

Next to the boat is a mint Little Tikes dozer for the Grandson.

Piloting the boat is Mork from Ork! I was chuffed when I found him in a box of tat at the same sale.

Anyone got any more Mork and Mindy toys and merchandise?
