I love a ring torus.
Basically a ring donut.
Such a fantastic shape.
Very Sci-Fi and there are at least two or three TV and toy tori.
Here we have the Nemesis from Star Maidens 1976 ( I copied a doll from the show last year)
Here's the utterly beautiful ring device of Colorforms Xodiac, one of the Outer Space Men. These were my favourite space figures as a kid, bendy like Major Matt and so damn cool.
The inventor of the Outer Space Men has his own extensive and wonderful website, in which the gallery includes his pre-package photography such as this truly gorgeous Xodiac and ring.

Tinplate ring space station. Many examples such as this lovely toy by SH of Japan
(I've never seen a plastic ring space station)
Any more Toruses?

Love that space station Arto! In one of my facebook groups there's a guy from Germany who posts a ton of really cool space toys from all over Europe - things we never see here Stateside and it's fascinating to see what's all out there.
DeleteMy favourite too, Ed! There's just something about this plastic Raja space station. I wish I could find a way to get one, but they seem to be rare as hen's teeth.
DeleteGorgeous space station , yeah, I agree Arto and Ed. Thanks for sharing. I love the plastic look and the full see-through canopy. It reminds of a similar big toy spaceship, I just can't think of its name.
DeleteWow! However did you find that Outer Space Man website Woodsy!? That is cool.
ReplyDeleteI had the Colorforms Outer Space men figures as a kid and have always loved them, even though they got chucked out when I was a young teenager as everything did 😠I've been aware of Mel Birnkrant's site for a long time, he created the OSM range and it really is worth a look.
