Thanks Woodsy for adding the episode to the sidebar. I hadn't watched Catweazel since 1970 and it was fun to watch again, the idea of ancient wizardry was entertaining.
I loved Catweazle when it was shown in New Zealand in the 1970s. I have the full series on DVD. In fact, when I built my one and only (very small) model railway layout, I named it Catweazle. A great series.
I watched Catweazle before I emigrated to Australia. Interesting that a Sword toy is not the only Century 21 link in the show! Charles Tingwell who played Carrot's father also provided voices for Thunderbirds!
"Bud" Tingwell was Australian and returned home to play a Policeman in the long running Homicide TV show.
Back in the days when I permed my hair, I was often called Catweazle too!
The lettering on the side ends with W4. Can't read the first bit. The Sword badges have gone and made way for what look like bells. If this is 1970 it's 3 years after the toy was first released.
Wow - what a find! Not sure ive ever seen a SWORD toy in a tv or film ! Bill
ReplyDeleteMe neither! Great spot Bill! What's the writing on the side of the rocket?
DeleteWell spotted, Bill! A new leaf in Sword discoveries.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of the series before. Which episode was it and can you watch it online?
I'm amazed Catweazle wasn't shown in Finland Arto. The Missus saw it in Germany when it came out circa 1970. Really great kids TV.
DeleteThe episode is called the Eye of Time, and also features Hattie Jakes.

DeleteThanks Bill, I've posted the episode in the sidebar as its available on You Tube. Thanks for sharing!

Charles Tingwell made his name in the UK as a doctor in 'Emergency Ward 10'
