I love plastic friction novelty toys.
This monstrous fish I saw online caught my eye!
Released by LMR - a Hong Kong company largely new to me - this crazy toy is clearly a knockoff of one of the famous Marx Nutty Mad vehicles ..... or is it a Weird-Ohs kit I'm thinking of?
Here's a Nutty Mad Moysha by Marx, who appears to be in a Blue Bird!
I love the little sign, To Hades!
You gotta love the Monster Craze of the Sixties!
Anyone collect these Nutty Mads?
The Monstrous Fish looks a lot like the Hawk Weird-Ohs Flameout Freddy kit. Although the wings appear to be a little longer. Plus they fold. The eyes on the fish are a new addition. The pilot looks a bit like one of the Hawk Frantics musicians. What a crazy toy. It looks like great fun.
ReplyDeleteSpeedy Moysha looks to be driving one of the Bluebird Land Speed Record cars - on water ? Love the skull on the bow.
Great info Paul, thanks. They are cool toys for sure.
DeleteI'm familiar with the Weird-Ohs plastic model kits of the 60s, but I don't think I ever knew that the craze included standalone toys! What a bizarre and glorious genre of collecting that would be! And the Monstrous Fish is hilarious - no monster, no fish! SFZ
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I know. A whole new area of collecting Zigg!
