Pencil cases were and are a staple of space race celebration.
Something every kid had, pencils and pens were the upright heralds of a brighter, sleeker future [did it arrive?]
This old Italian case by Regis is a fabulous example and I love how the perspective of the capsule is captured in the design. I saw it on auction.
Did you have a pencil case readers?

Nothing even close to this beauty. Mine were all plain and boring.
ReplyDeleteYet another way to collect beautiful vintage space art! SFZ
ReplyDeleteSame answer as Paul. Mine were plain-Jane example's of nothingness.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, that made me chuckle Ed.
DeleteThat is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of knock off Anime robot pencil cases, that I bought in Sydney's Chinatown in the 80's. Most are vacuum formed shells with heat welded vinyl covers, held in place with magnetic clasps.
I have a couple of higher quality Arrvederci Space Cruiser Yamato ones that are double sided with different compartments on each side.
I suppose my Crown Jewel is a transforming Daitarn 3 pencil case/robot!
