I love this magazine cover from 1963 I saw online.
Space World with the Dyna Soar.
The Dyna Soar was released as a toy in 1967 by Century 21 Toys as part of the Project SWORD range.
Coincidentally SPACE WORLD is the first part of what SWORD stands for, SPACE WORLD ORGANISATION FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT!
Have you got a Dyna Soar toy?
That's one large Duracell battery it is ejecting! I've got the Sword Dyna soar.
ReplyDeleteha ha, reminds me of the huge fluorescent light ignition that the SpaceX R6 toy comes with Kevin!
DeleteI've got the recent AMP 1/72nd plastic scale model kit of the Dyna Soar. It's a limited run kit and I found the fit of the cockpit difficult but it's great to have a Dyna Soar again. I painted mine dark blue like the Project Sword toy.
ReplyDeletePictures Yorkie pictures! Please!
DeleteI had the toy as a kid, I remember the smell of the plastic, was always disappointed that I never saw one on Thunderbirds
ReplyDeleteYep MJ, I know what you mean about the smell. Its a shame 'SWORD' vehicles never made it to the small screen. The Dyna Soar would have fitted right into Gerry's TV world. Of course Zero-X made it though, it got its own film!
