The Launch sequence consists of eleven images.....also further images will be added with the interactions of the crew of the submarine as they follow work to launch the submarine when the Comic is released. These are the model animation shots of the submarine .
We start on Omelek Island with the Lavelle Marine Lab....on the island surface....below that is STAR KEY Base....a secret submarine facility for the Aquanaut Marine Rangers Command ......the island forms part of the Kwajalein Atoll group in the Pacific Ocean.....
In Hanger One ....the SEASTAR 5 , the world's first submarine Carrier Battle Cruiser class of supersonic speed capable super submarines .
The super submarine on its launch vehicle transporter prepares for launch on its first patrol mission.....power systems on the super submarine come to life....the power up has started.....the Airlock doors are opened......
.... to be continued!
Nice Atol base.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the miniature palm trees from? They really help set the scene.
Your miniature set pieces are really extraordinary! They evoke the mid-60s effortlessly! SFZ
ReplyDeleteExciting stuff Richard! I have to say i prefer the real model shots to the comic effect applied to them, as they are more reminiscent of classic Anderson. Good luck with the launch! Bill
ReplyDeleteI especially like the lab scene and the approaching truck. Is that a model truck Richard?
ReplyDeleteHi everyone....thanks for your support and comments...most appreciated .
ReplyDeleteSo lets give you some answers to the questions asked...."Palm Trees"....very much straight from the box - Pegasus Model Kits....are these....a little extra paint but they are realistic as they come...available in the UK....
The model vehicle approaching the Beach laboratory...thats a die cast Humvee - painted and weathered...extra details painted on the body...1/24 scale not sure of the make , bought it on line....
Appreciate your a model shot fan Bill....and of course SEASTAR 5 is a big nod to Gerry Anderson's work and the sixties....the comic look is not for everyone , but with the SEASTAR 5 Comic I'm currently putting together ...one of the things I'm trying to achieve is to broaden the fan base for the story....giving it an artwork style presentation for the vehicles will blend better with the new artwork style characters I'm developing for the production...the use of model animation models to create the sets and set effects is relatively low cost compared to having to hire a team of artists to draw my miniatures for the comic....budgets are tight on this production ....but for me using model miniatures comes out well as for the most part I can build them and do the artwork using digital techniques together with old style painting skills as well.......hopefully a fair number of people will like the comic and the "cinematic style presentation format" that I'm giving to it....the comic is coming out with a sixties style presentation in the 21st century....we will see if people like it...
Thanks again to Paul for putting these images out on Moonbase Central....Regards Richard Dixon TPD STUDIOS UK .
